If you have any type of consulting experience you may want to start a consulting business of your own. The purpose of a consultant is to help increase the profitability of a company. Now if you decided to start a consulting service, your client base would more than likely be other businesses. And you would do the same for each individual business as you would do it for one big company. As your own boss you could pick up 2-3 client and be set!
A consultant is a very good problem solver. He/she can tailor solutions to take care of specific problems. And that is what makes consultants such an asset to businesses. Consultants are also very good at helping stubborn entrepreneurs that think they can start their own business without research yet, have not a clue what they are doing. If you helped someone in such a situation you could be considered a damage control specialist.
Being that a consultant maintains a high position in a business you will make top dollar in this type of position. On average, a consultant can make anywhere from $20 – $100 depending on what the consulting specialty is. You will find that some consultants will actually charge by the day which can range from $200 -$1500. Can you image making that in 1 day, now that’s what I call good money! You also have to take into consideration that some consultants accept retainers as well, and that would totally be up to you if you wanted to accept that or not. When looking at annual figures a consultant can make $30,000 or more easy.
This is a business that you can start even you have no experience starting any other businesses, but I would suggest that you be properly trained or experienced with some type of consulting. And keep in mind that this is a business that you can actually do from the comfort of your own home as long as you have a phone, a computer with Internet access, and the proper software and equipment. All you really have to do is decide on what type of consulting you want to do and do a little research, then you can be on your way to a brand new profiting business.
