Blogging is something that takes time, effort, and dedication but the problem is that sometimes your lifestyle gets so busy that you end up neglecting your blog. I have looked at really good blogs that have the last post dated two weeks earlier and for me that is a turn off. Mainly because that means the blogger is not updating the blog regularly and that means I won’t be able to read fresh content very often.

Here are some ways that you can squeeze in more time for your blog:

1. You have to make time. Sometimes it becomes really easy to blow off blogging so that you can do something else that is more appealing and this is a problem. If you want your readers to take your blog seriously then you have to take it seriously. All it takes is an extra 10-20 minutes a day to put up a new post.

2. Take advantage of your scheduling feature. Most blogging platforms allow you to schedule your posts to publish at various dates and times. This really comes in handy when you know you are going to be away from your computer for a period of time and you just can’t avoid it. What you can do is sit down when you have a chunk of time, like an hour or so, and write out a few blog posts at a time. It is best to do this on the weekend when you have more time and less distractions. If you write about 5-7 good articles then you are set for an entire week.

3. Use videos that illustrate your ideas. Believe it or not but this is not going to take up much time from you. Instead of trying to explain how something works in text form, go over to YouTube and see if you can’t find a good video that will illustrate what you are trying to say. It will save you some time, and give your readers something that will hold their attention a little better than text.

4. Use Windows Voice Recognition. This application will allow you to use hands free typing. All you have to do is use a mic to speak into and the computer will do all of the rest for you. If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7 then your computer should already have this feature installed. So you can write your blog posts while you are using your hands to carry out other important tasks.

5. Use desktop blogging tools. Sometimes it just becomes too much to open an Internet browser, go to your blog, login, and then post. You can make the process simpler and quicker by using desktop blogging software. Personally, I use Windows Live Writer but there are many applications that you can use you just have to look for them.

6. Get rid of all distractions. When it’s time to sit down and write a post make sure that you eliminate all possible distractions because they will waste more time then you can actually afford. You should make sure you are in a quiet atmosphere because your idea will flow better if you do.

7. Store ideas when on the go. I often get the best blogging ideas when I am miles away from my computer. And if this happens to you then it would be useful to start recording those ideas while you are out and about. You can do this by simply carrying a notebook around with you or you can do what I do and use your cell phone. I will normally open up my voice recorder when I don’t have time to type, and if I do have a little time to type I will use my phones notepad.

8. Use blogging applications on your phone. Now days most phones will allow you to blog directly from your handset. I currently have a Blackberry that I have downloaded the WordPress application for. So if I want to write a blog post on the spot then I can. You should check to see if there are any applications that are available for your particular phone and learn how to use it.

9. Consider Vlogging from time to time. For some of you it might be easier for you to sit in front of a webcam or digital camera and talk to your audience rather than typing. Not only can this save time but it allows you to connect better with your audience. Now you don’t have to do this everyday if you don’t want to but doing this a couple of times a week will definitely help when you are running low on time.

10. Take advantage of idle time. Even though your day may be extremely busy you have more idle time then you think. How about when you are waiting in that long line at the bank. Or what about when you are in line behind that food hog at the grocery store. These are perfect times when you can blog with your cell phone.

I know this may sound crazy, but let me explain. There is no way around people stealing your content. No matter how many plugins you use or copyrights you put on your content there is always going to be some bonehead that will get their hands on your content. But here’s where I say “let them steal your content” because I found something that makes it worth it.

There is a website called Tynt Insight that will allow you to generate a simple code to put on your blog and no matter how those content thieves steal your content, when they go to past it on another blog or website a link back to your site appears. And there is nothing they can do about it. So even if they steal your content they can’t claim it as their own and you are going to benefit from the traffic.

If you are blogging for profit, then you know how it important it is to give your blog’s visitors information that they want and need, rather than what you feel like writing about. If this is not a priority of yours then you are not going to make very much as a blogger. So here are some ways that you can use the input of your visitors to continue providing relevant content that your visitors are interested in.

Place surveys on your blog. By having surveys available on your blog you can as various questions that can lead to the improvement of your blog and the way that you do things. The sky is the limit when it comes to the types of questions that you ask, but when you get the answers that you are seeking take them into consideration when things need to be altered on your blog.

Allow your visitors to submit topics they want to see covered. Some people waste time playing the guessing game when it comes to what their visitors want to read. Make it easy for yourself and allow your visitors to submit topics that they want to see covered. This will also help you out during times where writer’s block gets the best of you.

Pay attention to your visitor’s questions. You can either allow your readers to post their questions on the blog posts that they read or you can set up an email account where they can send their questions via email. This can give you all sorts of ideas for writing blog posts. And if you notice a trend in questions being asked then you will have an idea of the type of traffic your post will get.

Ask questions at the end of your blog posts. If you have trouble getting people to comment or hold conversations on your blog then try asking questions or about their opinions at the end of your posts. This often helps to get the ball rolling and will give you some insight on where your visitors stand and what they think.

The input of your visitors can be very valuable to your blog as well as save you a lot of time and frustration.

A sometimes a blog’s traffic can be enhanced by simply creating better headlines. Like I have explained many times before, your headline is your bait and your information is the hook. Your object is to bait your audience right to the hook and allow the quality of your information do the rest. If your headlines are terrible, then it really won’t matter how good your information is because your blog visitors won’t make it that far.

The reason that I have 2 separate formulas is because I have found that it is more profitable when you don’t include affiliate products and ppc ads on the same blog. You either do one or the other. So for maximum profits I might do 5 niche blogs with ppc ads and another 5 blogs with affiliate product promotions.

So as you can see there is a method to my madness LOL.

FORMULA # 1- Profiting From PPC Ads (you can use any ad network you want)

Step 1 – Placing ads on your front page. You have to have ads on your homepage because you are going to get a lot of blog readers that will just pass by without clicking on your post titles. And in order to catch their eyes you want to place these ads at the top of your blog, which won’t require your readers to scroll down to find them.

Step 2 – Place a section of ads after your post’s title, but before your content. The reason for this is because no matter how hard a reader may try they can’t just skip over reading ads that are placed here. Think about it – their eyes have to move from the title to the content, so their eyes are going to hit what is between. Now this may be hard to do if you don’t have WordPress blog because of how other blog services are set up. But if you do use a self-hosted WordPress blog then download the Post Layout plugin and you do this very easy.

Step 3 – Place a section of ads at the end of your posts after your content, but before your comments. Once again, a person’s eye will more than likely not be able to skip this section, especially if it is a good post that is getting comments. People love to look at all the things that are being said about content in a post and the eye can’t skip from the content to the comments without seeing the ads.

Now I can’t guarantee that this formula will work for you, but it has increase my click thru rate on every single niche blog that I use to earn with PPC advertising.

FORMULA #2 – Profiting From Affiliate Commissions

Step 1 – Select a good affiliate product that you want to promote. There are millions of ways that you can select affiliate products to promote. I would suggest using CB-Analytics in order to research good Clickbank products to promote. But keep in mind you can do it however you want.

Step 2 – Create a blog around the affiliate product. A lot of people will create a niche blog packed with information and then add an affiliate product to try to earn some affiliate commissions. For me it works the opposite way around. What I do is find an affiliate product and then create the blog around the product. This way you are leading your readers to the purchase of the main product that you are promoting.

Step 3 – Creating your blog posts. Now this is where I get a little creative. Now personally, I like to try out the products before I promote them because that is my key to increasing my commissions. From here I find tons of creative uses for the affiliate products outside of the ideas that the ideas that the product’s sales copy offers, and maximize the benefits and the features of the product.  For example, let’s say you are promoting an Article Rewriting software. More than likely the sales page for that software is just going to offer basic information on rewriting basic articles. But what if you could show your readers or customers how they can use the software to rewrite Twitter tweets, create scripts for YouTube videos, create various info products, etc?

Step #4 – Creating your incentive. Now using a squeeze page is cool when trying to capture email addresses before sending a reader to an affiliate page, but I like to create incentives instead. What I will do is take the ideas that I came up with in the last step and create a small report explaining how to use one of the techniques that I came up with. And I will create another opt in form on the front page of the blog where I have a picture of the product placed. Customers will then fill out the form to get the free report before they make their purchase.

DO NOT include any ppc ads on this type of niche blog because it will distract your readers away from  your affiliate products, and the same thing will happen if you put affiliate products on a blog where you have ppc ads.

WAALAA! There goes the money in your pocket. Now if you create like 1-2 niche blogs per week doing this your profits will shoot through the roof. But you have to make sure that all information that you are providing is high quality.

Niche blogging is a great way to make some passive income that doesn’t take a lot of tedious work. And if you are anything like me, then you want to make things as simple as you possibly can. So I have 2 formulas that I use to create niche blog profits and they bring in a pretty penny too! Now regardless of which of the formula’s below that you use there are some common elements.

Create a Free Guide

For each niche blog you create you want to create a free guide for your readers to download. Don’t roll your eyes, and act like I just said something that is going to take forever for you to create. You can either create a simple guide that is 5-7 pages long, or you can use PLR content to create your guide in less than an hour.

One thing that you have to make sure of, is that your guide goes with the theme of your blog. So if you are blogging about Adsense you might consider creating a beginner’s starter guide for setting up Adsense because there are a ton of people that still don’t know what they are doing. That’s just an example.

Create an Opt-In Form

Next, you want to include an opt-in form on the front page of your blog in order to collect your reader’s email addresses when they go to download your free guide. This is not only going to give the readers their free guide, but this is going to build your list rather quickly depending on the quality of the guide you create. You can use Aweber to do this, or if you need a free service you can use MailChimp.

Posting Blog Posts

When posting content on your niche blog you have to first define your purpose, in order to post content properly. If you are looking to earn money through Adsense then you need to focus on writing posts with quality content on your the topic you chose as well as include your ads at the beginning and end of your post. Now if you are looking to profit from affiliate products then you will have to set that up a little different and I will explain that in the next post. But simply put you want to post content that will lead your readers to post your affiliate product.

Do you know how powerful your words are? I don’t think that you do, but think about this –

Words carry the power to bring out emotions, persuade people to take action, encourage buying decisions, and even drive people to spend money. Now that’s power. In the case of comment blogging, you have the power to drive traffic and build relationships with your words but like they say “there is a right and wrong way to do everything!” To help you to get on track and start commenting the right way I am going to tell you what bloggers like to read in their comments. So here goes…

What would we do without compliments? Bloggers just love compliments. They love to know what they are doing right and how you are benefiting from it. So don’t be stingy with your compliments, it won’t hurt to give the blogger an ego boost. In the end you are going to be the one benefiting, so why not?

Tell them how much their information and work is appreciated. People don’t realize how hard good bloggers actually work to research their information, put it together for their readers, and maintain it regularly. It’s hard work, but when you are passionate about what you do it really doesn’t matter.

Tell them exactly what you like about their posts. Normally when people are focused on solely on generating traffic they can get pretty common with their commenting. Don’t just say “good post!” that just puts you in the crowd with everyone else. Instead stand out from the rest and go deeper by saying what you liked about the post, why you liked it, and why it is valuable to you.

Share the bloggers information and tell them about it. A blogger’s love to hear about their information being shared – who wouldn’t? Authority and credibility comes from a blogger’s information reaching out beyond their actual blog. When a blogger’s information is shared, that opens up the door for potential traffic so they would be glad to know that you are sharing their information.

Let them know that you are subscribing to their blog or feeds. There are a lot of people that will leave comments like “I am going to subscribe” and then they never do. Try subscribing to the blog first and then let the blogger know that you have done it. This builds confidence in the blogger because by you subscribing he or she knows that he is gaining your loyal readership.

Commenting on other people’s blogs is a great traffic source, but you have to go about it the right way. If you are not going to do it right then don’t do it at all, because crappy commenting is not going to get you anywhere. Work on building relationships with various bloggers rather than just doing a comment drive by. Those relationships could possibly turn into wonderful partnerships.

Now it’s okay to pick a niche that you like but it is important that you cover topics that other people want to know about within your niche.

You are not speaking in their language. Before you write any blog post you have to consider who your audience is. You have to make sure you are using words that your readers can both understand and relate to. This does not mean make your readers feel dumb, just keep things simple.

You are not holding their interest. We all have short attention spans, and it can take some work to keep us interested. But for the sake of your blog you have to find creative ways to keep your readers interested in what you have to say.

You are just like everybody else. People like to read fresh content from a different perspective than everybody else on the Internet. Content on the Internet gets so watered down because people recycle information rather than making it unique.

Of course you know that one of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog is by commenting on other blogs that are in your niche. But one of the worst things that you can do is post empty comments that have no substance. Every morning I check my blog comments because I have to approve them before they post. And every single morning I have people that make comments on my post and the comment itself has nothing in the world to do with the topic of the post.

Irrelevant Comments

From my experience, that is one of the most annoying things to deal with. And I am sure that if it irritates me then it irritates a lot of other people out there. So when you are leaving comments on other people’s blogs it doesn’t have to be an entire page long, but make sure you are commenting on the specific topic. And that way not only will the blogger take the time to read your comment, but he or she will also be more likely to take a look at your blog as well.

Spam Belongs in a Can!

Another thing that you don’t want to do is go through and spam people’s blogs. If there are any bloggers out there like me that absolutely hates spam then their blog is going to be protected against this annoyance and you can forget about getting any visits to your blog. On my blog specifically, I ban the email address and ip address of spammers so you only get once chance with my blog. So don’t do this because it’s not going to help you at all.

Providing Value

You always want to provide some type of value in your comments because you never know who is going to be reading them. You may also gain visitors by people, other than the blog owner, reading your comments. I have had people visit my blog after reading some comments that was left on someone else’s blog, so it does happen. And if you provide information that is valuable to others, then they will be flocking to your blog to read more of your valuable information.

These are just some areas that you need to work on if you are looking to drive more traffic to your blog by commenting on other people’s blog. Just remember it only takes a minute or two to post a good comment, so don’t be lazy!

Tip #1 – Add Some Type of Content to Your Blog Everyday

Now I know that this is something that a lot of people have been stressing to you, but some of you are not listening out there, so I will reiterate.

A little trick that I use to publish content everyday is I will spend some time on a Saturday or Sunday where I will sit down, brainstorm ideas, and create a few blog posts. Now how long this takes you will depend on what writing level you are on and how freely your ideas come to you. I can usually write about 7 articles in about 3-4 hours. So I will divide my time up – 2 hours on Saturday and 2 hours on Sunday.

If you are a WordPress user, then you can either save these articles as drafts and publish them whenever you want to, or better yet you can schedule your articles to publish on a certain date or time. That way, not having time for blog during the work week will not be an excuse for you.

Tip #2 – Valuable Incoming Links

You need to work on building links and making sure that you are getting valuable links into your websites. In order to do this make sure that you are getting valuable links back from blogs or websites in your niche about an hour doing this.

I like to use a little tool called the Fast Blog Finder every now and then. It will pull up related blogs based on the keywords you put in, show you the blog’s such as ranking, links, etc., and then I will comment on the blogs that are more valuable. My Alexa ranking went from 578,471 to 504, 779. Now I know that alexa is not 100% reliable but it does give you a guideline of your progress.

Tip #3 – Make Sure You Are Making Good Use of Meta Tags

Title Tags – are where you place your keyword or keyword phrases. This is the most important tag in SEO and you will want to make sure you are not leaving this blank and you are using good keywords.

Meta Tags – are used to provide a a description for your blog, but make sure that you make it brief

Alt Tags – are use to provide a description for your images. You should always include an alt tag with keywords because search engines will look at theses as well.

For best results, make sure that you are using these tags properly.

Tip #4 – Be a Social Butterfly

You definitely have to learn how to be social because that is the key to building relationships whether it is with your readers or it is with other people you connect with in your niche. And while you are out being social on social networks you have to promote your blog. If you don’t, then who will?

Tip #5 – Advertise

Most people don’t like doing this, but you have to do some type of advertising. Now I would suggest you do a little PPC (Pay Per Click) Advertising but it is totally up to you. Whatever you decide  to do just get out there and do it!

5. Make it so that everybody can comment on your posts. Forcing a reader to subscribe or log into your blog before they can leave a comment will deter your readers. You want to make it as easy as possible for your readers to comment even if they are just passing by.

6. Allow readers to rate your posts. For some reason on one of my blogs, I get more comments when my audience is able to actually rate my posts. I guess because it gives them input.

7. Keep your posts short. If you write longer posts it is hard to keep the attention of the audience long enough for them to get to the point of leaving comments. So keep your posts long enough to express what you need to, but keep it short enough to keep the audience’s attention.

8. Accept post suggestions from the audience. In doing this your audience feels like they have a place on your blog and will definitely comment on the topics that they suggest. 9. Don’t close off your comments. Some bloggers will close off their comments on blog posts once the reach a certain limit of comments. Don’t do this if you are trying to get more comments, because you will cutting off all future comments that your blog could receive.

10. Become friends with bloggers in your niche and share comment love. If you comment on other people’s blogs regularly, they will usually return the favor. Don’t be anti-social get out there and make new friends.

11. Keep up with the “New.” Your audience is interested in learning about new things that are going on within your niche, so give them just that. Check out the news on a daily basis, write about recent articles and share your opinions and things like that.

12.Expound on topics that get a lot of comments. You will find that some posts on your blog just get more comments because of the topic. Pay attention to what these topics are and how you can expound on these topics.

Pretty disgusting thought isn’t it? I know it is, but guess what some of you have blog traffic that smells just as bad. But that’s ok, I am going to give you some tips that are going to help you out with that.

A lot of people don’t understand this, but you can’t start a blog and expect people to flock to it just because you put up a couple of posts.  If you thought this is how it worked, then you have sadly mistaken. Here are some easy ways to generate traffic:

Article Marketing – with article marketing you can simply write an article in your niche and link to your related blog posts, or you could include a description and link to your blog in your article’s resource box.

Social Networking – I have found this to be one of the easiest ways to drive traffic to my blogs. And Twitter should definitely be in your list of networks. Share links to your posts in your updates, tell your friends to visit your blog, and take the  time to network with people in your niche.

Submit to Directories - submitting your blog to directories will not only generate traffic to your blog, but it will help you out with the search engines. You want to increase your appearance on the Internet so you definitely do the blog submissions.

Join Blogging Communities - there are tons of blogging communities where you can socialize with other bloggers (great for learning new things), visit blogs, and stay updated on new posts. The key here is to make lots of friends so that they will be able to see your blogs feed, and if your content is attractive they will visit your blog.

YouTube – If you upload videos to YouTube then you can drive traffic to your blog itself or a related blog post. This works really well if you create an instructional video that goes with a blog post and in the video’s description you link to the blog post.

Commenting on Other Blogs – this usually helps as well. When you are posting good comments on other peoples blogs, a lot of them will return the favor.

Sponsored Posts - if you do sponsored posts on popular topics, websites, or posts for companies we have all heard of you will start to generate more traffic. You could try doing this through Social Spark.
