Hands Free Typing – The Nail Problem Has Been Solved!

Hey ladies I have a question for you -

Are yore sick and tired of not being able to pamper yourself by getting your nails done? As a woman you know that this can be a pain in the rear because if you get fake nails they just won’t allow you to type accurately or at a decent speed. Well guess what- your computer may have the solution and you don’t even know it! In fact, I am using this handy little tool to write this blog post right now.

It’s called the Tablet PC Input Panel. If you have a computer that runs the Windows 7 Operating System then you may have it right at your fingertips. This software allows you to write what you want to type right on your computer screen and what you write is converted to text. But of course this doesn’t happen by magic! You have to have an input device such as a Digital Tablet. I use the Wacom Bamboo Tablet and I think I bought it for like $80.

Now before you freak out there are many great deals on digital tablets and here are some worth looking at. When selecting a digital tablet keep in mind that you don’t have to grab the most expensive one. Any tablet that comes with a stylus pen will work just fine with this feature.

Now if you cannot afford to spend money on a tablet, there is another solution. You will also find the Windows Speech Recognition application installed on your computer which will allow you to say what you want typed and its done for you. You do need a microphone for it to work for you but you can grab one of those for under $20.

Now after looking around on the Internet, I have read where many people have said that Windows Vista has some of the same capabilities. Personally, I wouldn’t know because Vista can kick rocks for all I care. I didn’t like it when it first came out and I never will. But anyways you may want to search thoroughly through your computer to see if you do have them even if you don’t use Windows seven.

iPhone 4G – Should I get One?

I am currently pondering on what new cell phone I am going to get and I am stuck on the iPhone 4G. I am a Blackberry user and I currently have the Curve 8250 and of course I want to upgrade. And I’m not sure if I should stick with an upgraded Blackberry or I should venture out and get a iPhone 4G.

This video is very persuasive!

But I am looking for the opinion that those of you that own an iPhone have. I do a lot of texting, social networking, and handle business while on the go. Do you think the iPhone is good for that?

Live Docments – Perfect Online Alternative to Microsoft Office

I just ran across an interesting website called Live Documents. It is like an online version of Microsoft Office but with a twist. Once you sign up for a free account you can create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations right from your browser and you can share them as well. So I guess you can consider it a collaboration tool as well. I was especially impressed by the sleek interface. I have an annoying pet peeve about professional looking interfaces. If it doesn’t look professional enough for me then I simply keep it moving, but I love the look and feel of Live Document’s interface.

This is a awesome alternative if you don’t have Microsoft Office on your computer or want to take advantage of the collaboration tool. Now the free version does limit how many documents you can save online, but other than that it’s a great alternative. In fact, I think I would rather use this rather than using Google Docs. Shhhh….don’t tell Google. Check it out!

Flock – You Are Lost without It!

If you have never use or heard of Flock then you are missing out on one of the best tools you can have for Social Networking or Internet Marketing. The Flock Social Web Browser is the sister browser to Firefox. They were created by the same developers and I love them both. Now if you are easily distracted then this may not be the browser for you, because you can do a lot simultaneously. But if you are someone that needs to do a lot of multitasking thing this is just the browser for you.

As you can see by the video there is a lot that you can do with this browser. And if you loved Firefox because of its plugins and add-ons then guess what…a lot of them will work with Flock as well. In fact, when you install Flock you are given the option to import the plugins and add-ons that you are currently using with your Firefox browser.

Princeton and George Washington University Ban the iPad

You read right! Princeton and George Washington University have both banned iPads on their campuses. According to Yahoo News the reason for the ban had to do with Wi-Fi network malfunctions. Princeton has had to go as far as blocking nearly 20% of the iPad access on their campus due to the malfunction rate, and George Washington University’s authentication system simply doesn’t support the iPad.

First it was the huge Wi-Fi problem that people were experiencing when the iPad orders were first shipped out, now it seems as though the iPad is causing various networking issues. I know that technology is never perfect but it seems that the iPad is having a lot of issues that were not prepared for ahead of time.

Hopefully, Apple will get on the ball and fix these issues. Although these issues don’t directly affect those that are not on the college campuses it does kind of make you wonder what other problems the iPad may have. Read more about Princeton and George Washington’s issues with the iPad.

Uh Oh Not the iPad!

As you guys probably the Apple iPad is finally here! I pre-ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and I am still waiting to receive mine, but it will be here soon enough. But one thing that I noticed by checking out the Apple forums is that there are complaints literally pouring in about Wi-Fi connectivity issues. Uh oh…

As I read more and more about, what I thought was a small issue, I realize it is much bigger than I thought. Now only is this a problem for the iPad but it was also a problem for other Apple products. Back in 2007 it was said that the iPhone had issues with poor reception as well as dropped signals. Then in 2008 there was a problem with the Ultra-Thin MacBook Air. People were had weak Wi-Fi connections when the lid of their MacBook was closed (but who connects to the internet with the lid closed?).

But anyways, it seems to me that Apple has been having these types of connectivity issues for some time now. And to accommodate customers, Apple even put out a troubleshooting guide to help correct the Wi-Fi connectivity issues. This guide can be found on the support section of Apple’s website and you can also interact on the discussion board.

Now I am not going to lie, this puts somewhat of a damper on my mood because I don’t want to get my iPad and have to worry about not being able to connect to the Internet, download music or applications, or simply enjoy it’s features. Well, we will see what happens when it gets here and I will keep you guys posted.

Also, if you guys have order iPads and have been experiencing any problems I would like to hear about them.

They say that the first step to addiction is admitting that you have a problem, so I admit it…

I am a technology junkie and I just have to have every gadget that comes out! But this awesome creation by Apple, I just learned about not even 10 minutes ago, is so neat that I just have to have one.

When you look at it kind of looks like the Amazon Kindle on steroids. Now don’t get me wrong I love the Amazon Kindle but the Apple iPad is nothing short of a miniature computer. From what I can tell the graphics look pretty amazing…but what Apple product doesn’t have great graphic?

Every piece of technology that I have I use it for business in some way. I could see this product being a great business tool. It is small enough to carry in a purse, briefcase, or book bag but large enough to see webpages applications clearly without having to do a lot of scrolling. That’s one of the problems that I have when using my Blackberry Curve 8530 but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

So what does this thing actually do?

Access the Internet using the Safari Web Browser
Check and send emails using popular email applications
Create and display a photo album of your best photos
Watch HD movies, tv shows, or music videos
Download or listen to podcasts
Watch your favorite YouTube videos in high quality
Use it as an iPod to collect and listen to music
Read various eBooks on demand
and the list goes on!

That’s right! Access to your favorite social networks through your Xbox 360 is coming very soon. How cool is that? Back in August social networking applications were suppose to be apart of a software update, but the release was postponed until fall. But nonetheless, its coming! I am excited for the release and I don’t even have an Xbox 360, but I am a gamer. I guess the real reason why I am excited about this is because I love to see technology evolve. I love seeing technology improving their features and ultimately making life easier for us.

Now after reading “Hands-on: Social networking on Xbox 360″ I understand that a couple of the applications have actually been tested and are limited compared to accessing social networks from your computer. Well that can definitely be expected with any new technology that they haven’t worked all the kinks out of yet.

This article made me think in terms of where technology in our society is headed. I mean, let me be honest I am connected to the Internet 24 hours, 7 days a week. After I get up from my computer, I’m messing with the Internet on my phone. And when I don’t have my phone I am on the Internet with my PSP (yes, I’m an Internet junkie lol). I wonder if these new developments will eventually turn society into Internet junkies.
