I’m sure at one time or another you have receive one of those annoying emails that, in a nutshell, tells you how a person has been left millions of dollar from a rich relative and they need your help to get the money. Now I won’t say that the people that has fallen for this scam is dumb, because these scammers get smarter and more convincing by the minute. In fact, my mom received one not too long ago and let me tell you how far the scammer went…

So my mom get’s the email with the sob story of some man poor man over in Africa and how some relative left him thousands, but he was unable to recover the money because of the rebels in his country and he was asking for my mother’s help. So fell for it, sorry mom but that was stupid! Now about 3 day’s later she gets a check in the mail and the deal was she would cash the check, keep 20%, and send the rest back to the man.

She didn’t fall for that part, but it doesn’t end there. A couple of days later, when my mom didn’t respond to the check, she get’s a call on her sell phone. There is an African man out of breath, claiming to be running from some African rebels and he was trying to find a way out of the country. Then he proceeds to say that she needed to cash the check right away and send him the money or he would die.

So, hold up…..you mean to tell me you are poor, but you obviously have a cell phone. You are running from rebels that are trying to kill you, but you have time to call somebody in America while you are running for your life, and you are that trusting that you are going to send a check for thousands of dollars and have good faith that someone is going to send you the money back….COME ON!

But, there are more and more people falling for these scams everyday, and the scammers are getting smarter and that is what’s keeping them alive. So the best thing that I can do is to share as much information as I can to inform my readers of these scams and how they work so that they can keep themselves protected.
