Now this is a problem that a lot of bloggers experience, especially those that are new to blogging. And I don’t know about you, but it is so freakin annoying to me because I do the research to put a good post together and then some idiot comes along and steals my work. But there are some things that you can do to protect your blog posts a little better. Here’s what I do…
1. Install the WP-CopyProtect plugin so that you can disable the right click function as well as the copy function on your blog. But don’t stop here because people can still look at your RSS feed and steal your content.
2. Go over to your RSS feed (or Feedburner if you use it) and make sure that you are only displaying summaries of your blog posts. That way that your entire post cannot be stolen if they try this method.
3. Install the WP-PreventCopyBlogs on your blog so that you can track the ip address that is trying to copy your content. This is important for the next step.
4. Install the WP-Ban plugin. This will enable you to ban any ip addresses or hostnames that are visiting your blog. Now if you find that people are trying to copy your content and an ip address is provided then you can simply plug the ip address into the ban database and they would not longer be able to access your blog.
These are 4 techniques that work really well for me, and I am pretty sure it will work for you as well. If you need any help setting this stuff up just let me know.
