Some people don’t realize it but branding your Twitter profile plays a big part in building your credibility as an expert on Twitter. If you don’t have a brand know one knows who you are, and the bad thing about that is nobody is going to remember you. And that’s no good for you.
Why brand your profile?
Just think about it – if all of the restaurants in your neighborhood looked the same (building, paint, and all) would you be able to tell which restaurant was which? Nope. And that goes for your Twitter profile as well. You have to stand out from the crowd if you are going to make your mark as an expert in your field. And that’s why you need to brand your Twitter profile.
Here are 6 Ways to Brand Your Twitter Profile:
- User Name - your user name should be either your name or your business name. That way you will be recognized by people that know you or your business name outside of Twitter.
- Bio – always make sure that you include a small bio about yourself or your business. This will give potential followers an idea of what type of information you bring to the table and if you would be valuable to your follower’s network. If you can come up with a sentence or two, you can simply list descriptive words that describe you or your business.
- Url - make sure that you include a url to your webisite, blog, affiliate link, etc. And don’t just include it where it asks for your url, also include your url in your bio to help increase your page rank.
- Background – It always helps if you brand your background with a wallpaper with your logo or your picture on it. It helps if you match up your Twitter background with your website background so that your profile will be easily recognized.
- Avatar – your avatar should go along with your background whether it is a picture of yourself or your logo.
- Tweets - there is a free application called TweetBrand that will allow you to brand your Tweets. You can have a link to your website on every tweet that you send.
Tips for Branding Your Profile:
- Make sure your brand is consistent with it’s design and color because you want everything to match.
- When you find a design that you are satisfied with stick with it so that your viewers/followers will get use to seeing it.
- Use your brand on everything! You want it to be seen everywhere so get use to putting it on everything when marketing.
