Normally, when using Twitter people will take a look at your tweets before determining whether or not they want to follow you. Why? Because in order for someone to follow you they want to make sure that you are adding some type of value to their network. Now you can actually look at this from either a personal or business viewpoint.
For personal use, if you are looking to meet new friends through Twitter then you are more than likely looking to meet people that share common interests with you. And the reason for this is because you can actually connect with people using that interest that you have in common. It works the same way if you use Twitter for business purposes.
Now if you are using Twitter for personal pleasure, then you can pretty much be you and tweet about the interests that you include in your bio. But if you use Twitter for business you want to make sure that your tweets are directly related to the type of business you have. So if you are a copywriter, then your tweets should have to do with something like tips for copywriting, or copywriting resources, etc.
This is a crucial necessity with Twitter because the more valuable your tweets are, the more targeted followers you will have.
